NetIP Launches Campaign to Support Grameen Foundation Haiti Relief Efforts

Breaking NewsNetIP North America has launched a nationwide fundraising campaign to drive economic recovery and relief for the people of Haiti in the wake of the deadly earthquake that crippled the impoverished nation on Tuesday, January 12th. In affiliation with its non-profit partner, the Grameen Foundation, NetIP has pledged to raise funds over time to support long term, sustainable growth through microfinance loans. NetIP plans to accomplish its fundraising goal in conjunction with its 22 chapters through regional events and marketing communications to its vast member base. NetIP formally kicked off the initiative with a compelling “call to action” e-communication on January 21st urging readers to donate to this critical cause.

The Grameen Foundation is a global non-profit based in Washington DC that operates with the goal "to empower the world's poorest people to lift themselves out of poverty with dignity through access to financial services and to information." The Foundation’s mission is based on the microlending model established by the Grameen Bank, the brainchild of Bangladeshi banker-cum-economist Mohammed Yunus. Yunus was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for the institution’s innovative approach to alleviating global poverty through microcredit in 2006.

The “Help Haiti Heal” campaign marks a new stride in NetIP’s ongoing philanthropic mission in support of Grameen’s work. “NetIP is excited and proud to partner with Grameen and be a solid contributor to its humane mission through this grassroots movement,” says Ruby Bola, who is coordinating NetIP’s philanthropy efforts as a chair on NetIP North America’s External Affairs team, led by VP External Affairs, Latha Nehru. The team has set up its own dedicated page on the Grameen site to collect donations.
