GE Elfun ("Elfun") is committed to protecting any personal information that you may provide to us. In particular, we believe that it is important for you to know how we treat information about you that we may receive from this Web site.

Public Area of Web Site

The public area of this Web site is intended to provide information about Elfun to any user who accesses the site, including Elfun's history, chapters, events and benefits of Elfun membership. The main purpose of this area is to encourage GE Workers and Retirees to join Elfun.

In general, you can visit the public area of this Web Site without telling us who you are or revealing any information about yourself. Our Web servers collect the domain names, not the email addresses, of visitors. Domain name information that we collect is not used to personally identify you and instead is aggregated to measure the number of visits, average time spent on the site, pages viewed, etc. We use this information to measure the use of our site and to improve the content of our site.

Elfun Membership

GE Workers and Retirees that are not currently Elfun members have the opportunity to join Elfun through this Web site. 

When you first click "Join Now" you will login through GE's SSO ID authentication. If you are a GE Retiree and do not have or do not remember your SSO ID there are instructions available on how to get one.  After you are authenticated, you will be directed to a Registration page where you will select which Elfun chapter you want to join, enter your First and Last Name, Home Email Address, and spouse's information.  Only Chapter, First and Last Name will be required at this point for validation purposes.  By clicking on "Become a Member" you agree to join Elfun and consent to GE's transfer of the following personal information to Harris Connect for administrative purposes (managing membership, reporting and membership eligibility): First Name, Last Name, Nickname, Member Status, Spouse's First and Last Name, Spouse's Nickname, Union Membership information (applies only for US based employees), Date of Birth, Gender, Primary Home Address, Alternate Address, Home Phone Number, Cell Phone Number, Business Segment, Job Title, Business Address and Business Phone Number (Dialcomm).  This information will be collected from GE's Oracle HR system or PeopleSoft system and will be restricted to only the Corporate HQ Elfun staff.

Elfun Online Directory

The Elfun Online Directory is only available to active Elfun members, and it is intended to provide Elfun members with a simple way to find and keep in touch with one another.

When you opt to log in to the Elfun Online Directory, the following data will be provided to, stored in, and processed by the Elfun system hosted by Harris Connect: SSO ID, First Name, Last Name, Elfun Chapter and Employee/Retiree Flag.

When you first log in to the system, you will have the ability to opt in to the Elfun Online Directory to share personal information with other Elfun members. In addition to individuals at GE Elfun and Harris Connect who need to access the data to perform their job duties, only active Elfun members that are logged in to the system will have access to the data in the Elfun Online Directory. Active Elfun members may choose to share any of the following information with other Elfun members through the Elfun Online Directory: First Name, Last Name, Nickname, Member Status, Spouse's First and Last Name, Spouse's Nickname, Primary Home Address, Alternate Address, Home Phone Number, Cell Phone Number, Business, Business Title, Business Address, Business Phone Number (Dialcomm). At any time, you may change the personal information, if any; you choose to share on the Elfun Online Directory by clicking here .

Elfun Benefits

Elfun members are eligible for numerous benefits, including medical benefits, insurance discounts, wireless services discounts, mutual funds, and Elderhostel activities. 

We may share your personal information with those companies providing you the programs and benefits you have selected on the Benefits page, such as financial institutions offering programs to Elfun members (including credit card or insurance services). These companies are contractually bound to use personal information we share with them only to provide you these programs and for no other purpose. From time-to-time, on their own, these companies may send information about their programs directly to Elfun members via US Postal Mail or email for the purpose of soliciting participation. You may "opt out" here if you DO NOT wish to receive such information. If you change your mind, you may "opt back in" at a future time. We may also release information about you if you direct us to do so, if we are required by law to do so, or in other legally limited circumstances (for example, to protect your data from fraud).

Security of Collected Information

We maintain strict physical, electronic, and administrative safeguards to protect your personal information from unauthorized or inappropriate access. We restrict access to information about you to individuals who need to know the information to administer Elfun's operations or to respond to your inquiry or request. For example, Elfun global and chapter officers and board members will have access to membership records. Individuals who misuse personal information are subject to disciplinary action.

You may review and update the information that you provide to us through this Web site by contacting us as described below. To update information derived from GE's Oracle HR system, you should contact your Human Resources representative.
