Additional Information about Road Scholar Service Programs:
The cost of Service programs includes lodging, meals, and administrative costs, but also some of the supplies you will be working with and support for the sponsoring organization. Because Elderhostel, Inc. and its partnering Service Organizations are public charities exempt under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, expenses incurred to participate may be tax-deductible. Since individual tax circumstances vary, Elderhostel, Inc. suggests that you consult your own tax advisor before deciding how to declare your service program expenses. To document your volunteer contribution, Elderhostel, Inc. will send each participant a letter stating the full cost of the service program, after completion of the program.
