Welcome to the Greater Philadelphia Chapter!
The Greater Philadelphia Chapter was established in the early 1990s, through merger of the former Philadelphia Chapter and the Valley Forge Chapter. The Philadelphia Chapter historically was made up of of Elfuns from the greater Delaware Valley, including significant membership from the former Philadelphia Works (Switchgear Plant) at 69th and Elmwood Avenues, and the various sales offices in the city and surrounding communities. The Valley Forge Chapter consisted primarily of Elfuns associated with the Aerospace business operations, headquartered in Valley Forge, with other facilities in Philadelphia and South/Central New Jersey. The Philadelphia Works is no longer, and the Aerospace business was sold to Martin-Marietta in 1992. The current Greater Philadelphia Chapter is made up of Elfuns from all GE operations in southern New Jersey, Delaware and eastern Pennsylvania. Major facilities include the GE Water Technologies business headqaurters in Trevose, PA, GE Healthcare operations headquartered in Devon, PA, various sales and services functions in Exton, PA, and the Trailer Fleet Services business in Devon, PA Our numbers currently total approximately 1,000 Seniors (retired Elfuns) and 300 Regular (current employees), from nearly all the GE businesses.
The Chapter operates in conjunction with local GE Volunteers, and supports various social, charitable and scholastic efforts.
